LaCroix Institute of Technology — Digital Transformation Research & Practice
Transformation in Practice

Digital transformation,
practically.

Most digital transformation projects fail. Not because of the technology — but because of everything that happens around it. After years in the field and a doctorate dedicated to the question, Dr. Elliott Simo founded LaCroix Institute to share what the research actually found.

What the research found
70%
of digital transformation initiatives fail to deliver their intended value
Source: McKinsey & Company
10
documented root causes, uncovered through doctoral research into why DT projects fail
5
proprietary frameworks developed to address the causes — practically and systematically

It started with a pattern.

Year after year, across sectors and organisation sizes, the same failure dynamics kept appearing. The technology changed. The failure rate didn't. That pattern became a research question — and the research question became LaCroix Institute.

3.
Failure brackets
Every DT failure traces back to one of three critical areas: Strategy & Leadership, Technology & Data, or People & Culture. Understanding which bracket is at risk is the first step to protecting a transformation.
10.
Root causes
Doctoral research identified 10 specific, recurring root causes of transformation failure — not abstract forces, but concrete, diagnosable, and preventable conditions present in organisations before projects begin.
5.
Practical frameworks
Each framework addresses a specific failure point — from assessing digital maturity and selecting software, to navigating implementation, go-live decisions, and AI readiness. Research translated into tools organisations can actually use.

Applied research. Practical use cases.

We don't do research for research's sake. Every question we explore is grounded in what companies actually face — and every answer is built to be used, not just read.

Applied research

Our research starts with real organisational problems and works toward evidence-based answers. Grounded in doctoral inquiry, tested against field experience, and designed to advance understanding — not just fill a bibliography.

About the research
Practical frameworks

Five proprietary frameworks that address the specific, documented failure points in digital transformation. Each is built for real organisations making real decisions — not theoretical constructs designed for academic review.

Knowledge sharing

Through the Transformation in Practice review, the Now You Know I.T. podcast, articles, case studies, and speaking engagements — we put the research into the hands of the people who need it most.

Now You Know I.T.

Conversations with the researchers and practitioners who live digital transformation — not the ones who sell it. Dr. Simo interviews experts from industry and academia to explore what transformation really looks like when the work begins.

The answers became the frameworks. The frameworks became LaCroix Institute of Technology.
